Ukraine may tighten the penalties for unfair sporting events

Ukrainian lawmakers may change administrative responsibility to criminal in the matters of fixed sporting matches. This has been the statement from the Football Federation of Ukraine (FFU) investigation chief Andriy Madzianovskyi, reports TSN news service.

It appears that minimum term of deprivation for such violation would comprise 2 years, and maximum – 5 years, whereas the financial fine could reach UAH 2.5m – one of the largest penalty amount for unfair matches, said the official.

Work on the draft project aimed at solving the problem of corruption in sports (including the fixed sporting events) has started in the summer of 2015. It has also engaged All-Ukrainian Union on Bookmaking Development, Anti Match Fixing Organisation Federbet, many betting companies etc.
